EU: Barley crop expected to drop in 2021/22

EU Commission’s barley supply and demand forecast of May 27 puts the EU-27 barley production forecast for 2021/22 at 54.493 mln tonnes vs 54.755 mln tonnes in 2020/21, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier in June.

Imports and consumption are seen up, whereas exports (including malt) are expected to decline in 2021/22.

Ending stocks forecast is 6.846 mln tonnes versus 5.175 mln tonnes in 2020/21.
